Let Your Spirit Ring

This year's Homecoming theme celebrates UIW’s newly installed Robert C. Crosby Spirit Bell; dedicated in loving memory of our long-time supporter and friend. The Spirit Bell is poised to become a symbol of pride and play a significant role in our university's traditions - ringing to celebrate victories and collective achievements while also rejoicing in our continued commitment to the mission of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word. Alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends are invited to come together this fall to make new memories and celebrate the vibrant spirit that defines our Incarnate Word community.  Let Your Spirit Ring and create new echoes of tradition during Homecoming 2024.

The Crosby Family

The late Robert Crosby and his wife, Kate Crosby, BBA ’96, have been generous UIW supporters. Robert’s ties to UIW began with Kate’s affinity to the university. Kate is a 1996 graduate of UIW with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. She is an alumna of the first class of students in the ADCaP program, now called the School of Professional Studies. The two were an instrumental part of the group of UIW alumni and friends who founded the booster group, the Quarterback Club, which became the Cardinals Club. The couple were also leaders in developing the football tailgate experience and in rallying community support for UIW football. In the fall of 2023, Kate was presented with an Order of Merit Award at the UIW Athletics Hall of Fame to honor the contributions of both Robert and her to the advancement of the intercollegiate athletics program at UIW. They were the first recipients of the award. Although she is the UIW alum, Kate credits Robert with truly embracing what it means to support the university. Robert’s spirit of giving and generosity to benefit UIW’s Mission will ring throughout the UIW community for years to come.
