What are the parking permit enforcement hours?
Parking is enforced Monday through Friday during the Fall and Spring Semesters (excluding UIW recognized holidays).
In Premium Lots from 7 a.m. - 5 p.m.
In Economy and Off-campus lots from 7 a.m. - 5 p.m.
How long is a temporary/guest permit valid?
All temporary permits issued will only be valid for a day. If a permit is needed for more than one day, special approval will be required from the Chief of Police or designee. Duration of permit will be determined at time of approval.
Visitors you may register your vehicle for a guest parking permit at no cost via the T2 Cardinal Cars website. You must create a Guest Login to register your vehicle.
Please have the following required items before you begin the process:
- Valid email address (you will be required to verify your account using this email)
- Vehicle license plate number and State
- Vehicle Make, Model, Color, Style
You will receive a confirmation email with a receipt listing valid vehicle and parking date(s). For questions, please contact the UIW Parking Office at (210) 283-5066.
Where can you park with a temporary permit?
Holders of a temporary permit may park in the any lot/parking spaces (Any legal parking space not reserved, specially labeled, or coned).
How can a UIW department/school request temporary/guest permits for visitors coming on campus for meetings and/or work related events?
For UIW Departments requesting parking for visitors or groups, please use the T2 Cardinal Cars Department Guest Permit Request process. If you require a T2 department account, please contact the UIW Parking Office at (210) 283-5066.
How can a department/school reserve a parking space/lot for UIW events?
- Spaces are reserved on a first come first served basis. No more than a total of 10 spaces in the premium lots may be reserved on a daily basis. Request alone does not guarantee approval and must be made a minimum of two (2) business days in advance (excluding holidays). Request must be completed via the T2 Cardinal Cars Department Guest Permit Request process . An email stating approval status will be sent to the requestor.
- Request for more than 10 spaces to include entire lots requires the approval of the Chief of Police or designee. These requests must be received a minimum of seven business days (excluding holidays) prior to when needed.
- Once the spaces or lot has been reserved, requestor assumes the responsibility of maintaining the spaces/area for their guests/event. If requested by the requestor, staffing can be provided by UIW PD, for a fee, to ensure the integrity of the reservation. For pricing contact UIW PD Chief of Police or Assistant Chief of Police.
- For large area reservations, the department or organization requesting the reservation of a large parking area/lot, must show proof that notification was communicated to the UIW Community (students and employees) at least 5 business days (excluding holidays) prior to the closure of the area/lot. Failure to notify the community will result in the department or organization accepting any cost incurred for the removal and storage of the vehicle(s) in the reserved area.
What do I do if I’m in a vehicle accident on campus?
If involved in a motor vehicle accident on the UIW campus (personal or University vehicle)
- Check for injuries to anyone involved.
- Injuries:
- Call the Incarnate Word Police Department (UIWPD) at (210) 829-6030 or 9 – 1 – 1 immediately.
- No injuries:
- Move the vehicles out of traffic if possible.
- Call the UIWPD (210) 829-6030. An officer will be dispatched to take the report.
- Make sure to provide a valid driver's license and current insurance.
- Tell the officer exactly what happened.
- If vehicle was struck while unattended (owner not present when it happened), call the UIWPD immediately upon discovery.
- The UIWPD Officers will complete a Damaged Property report or the Texas Peace Officers Crash Report.
- Reports are available 5-10 business days after the accident is reported.
- Reports may be purchased for $5.00 (exact change only) per report at the Campus Police Office during normal business hours. (Monday- Friday, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.)

Rental cars-should I register this vehicle?
Yes, ALL vehicles parked on campus require a permit. Notify the Business Office or Parking Office when you return the rental and we will end the relationship of this vehicle on your Cardinal Cars account.
I sold my vehicle, how do I remove it from Cardinal Cars?
Notify the Business Office or Parking Office and we will end the relationship of the vehicle on your Cardinal Cars account.
How do I register paper plates or change the license plate information when I get permanent or new plates?
Register the vehicle per the instruction using the paper or new plate number. Notify the Business Office or Parking Office when you receive your permanent or new plates and we will end the relationship of the old license plates on Cardinal Cars.

Can I have a specific parking space or lot reserved?
After you have submitted your department permit request, you may provide special requests or additional details to the parking office by emailing parking@uiwtx.edu.
Can I use the department permit request process to accommodate parking for unexpected guests?
The department permit requests must be submitted 2 days in advance to allow for approval process and reservation link to flow back to your office.
To accommodate unexpected visitors, please have the guest log in to Cardinal Cars and use the Guest Login to create an account and register their vehicle.
Can I use a paper hang tag to alert the parking office not to issue a citation?
No, the T2 Cardinal Cars system is no longer paper based. All vehicles parked on campus must be registered and have an appropriate virtual permit assigned to their vehicle in the T2 Cardinal Cars system. The permit assigned to the vehicle will denote where the vehicle is authorized to park. Vehicles with a registered Guest permits can park in any available parking spot on Broadway campus.
Can a guest use the guest permit request process more than once?
The guest permit request process will allow up to five permits per academic year. If a guest exceeds the maximum allowed, the system will prompt them with instructions to contact the parking office.
Can a department/school have more than one staff member assigned to the department account?
Yes, it is recommended that each UIW department/school use one department account and share the login credentials as needed for business operations. To share the login credentials within your department, please obtain approval from your supervisor. You will need to add the staff members email credentials to the departments MS Group email account so that they may receive the parking permit approval notification from the system.
